Pointing new WordPress.com domain to WordPress.org

Hello all! I am new to wordpress.org and I need some help.

I started out on WordPress.com about 2 weeks ago but I wanted more control over my site so I got wordpress.org through Bluehost. Since i purchased my domain through wordpress.com less tahn 60 days ago i cannot transfer it to bluehose, so I just want to “point it” to my wordpress.org site. I have my purchased domain as my main domain on wordpress.org and i changed the DNS cose from wordpress to bluehost in the wordpress.com domain managing platform. I did this in the past 2 hours or so. does this just take time to take effect? or am i missing a step?
