PMP Pro Gift Levels Process

Hello- I need to enable purchasing of gift subscriptions on a site. I’ve looked at this add-on, and it seems like what I need, but I just want to make sure I understand the process that customers will go through. Does the person purchasing the subscription need to already be a member? Is the gift purchase specific to a gift receiver with a particular email address defined by the purchaser? Is the receiver notified by the add-on that they’ve received this gift?

Also, on the PMP Pro Gift Levels plugin page, it gives an example of how to use this add-on. Is this block of code in the example something that I would include manually in the functions.php file?

Aaand also, can the gift level that is being purchased be one of my pre-existing membership levels?…or is the purchaser just paying some money that the giftee can then use for whatever they want via a purchase code?

Sorry for all the questions. I’m loving PMPro thus far and am looking forward to implementing this feature.
