Plugins Update – Now site is down
-
I just updated all of my plugins at once with the bulk update.
Now my entire dashboard is not available my site is displaying very very wrong.
PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Calmly, please. All caps is considered rude.
You haven’t provide a link so I’m going to give you some generic advice: using FTP or whatever file management tools your host has provided you with, navigate to your
wp-content/pluginsdirectory and renamepluginstoplugins-old.See if that lets you log back in, that will remove (not delete) your plugins from being activated.
i have just tried the plugins re-name and it didn’t help anything.
Can I undo the the updates somewhere in the Database?
The source code for your page is still showing references to plugins when it responds at all. It’s gone really bad alright.
Do you or your host have a full file and database backup? Right now your WordPress installation is not acting rationally.
One of these should work:
http://www.blitzbeats.com/global/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/license.txt
http://www.blitzbeats.com/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/license.txt
But neither do. Also renaming the
pluginsfolder should have worked and that’s not the case.I have a backup from a few months ago and my host has no backups.
Whats the next step
Can you log into your WordPress installation? And if so with what URL? Don’t share any login info (we don’t do that here), I’m trying to understand what’s normal for your installation.
I am already logged into my admin account still after updating the plugins. It won’t let me log out and my login page doesnt work
it looks like my theme is broken? but i only updated plugins?
It could be your theme… Irrational installations always worry me. It’s really easy to get into deep trouble without a safety net, so if possible can you backup the whole works now before doing anything else?
http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
http://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_Database
http://codex.wordpress.org/Restoring_Your_Database_From_BackupPut those backups somewhere safe such as off of your web server. With that safety net, if something goes really wrong at least you can get back to where you are now.
Looking at the HTML for your page it looks like your theme lives here:
wp-content/themes/shopperpress/so try renaming thatshopperpressdirectory to a different name or move it outside of thewp-content/themesdirectory.Once that’s done, try to log in and visit your themes menu in your dashboard. It should tell you something like “Missing theme, switching to Twenty Eleven”.
Make that backup. Seriously.
I can’t find a link to a license.txt file in your Twenty Eleven directory so something is really going on with that installation.
ok doing the backup now.
i tried renaming my shoperpress theme folder and then my site went completely blank.
i tried renaming my shoperpress theme folder and then my site went completely blank.
Not really surprising: did you try logging in after that? And what URL are you using to log in with?
ok i tried and the login page didnt work either. nothing shows up.
the normal login page is http://www.blitzbeats.com/global/wp-login.php
Thanks for confirming the URL. I thought that was it but wasn’t sure.
So it looks like there are things missing from your installation or perhaps your
.htaccessfile is really borked up.Try (after you’ve made that backup) is rename
.htaccessto.htaccess-oldand see if you can log in.These URLs should work on any WordPress installation.
http://www.blitzbeats.com/global/readme.html
http://www.blitzbeats.com/global/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/license.txt
http://www.blitzbeats.com/global/license.txt
But on yours they don’t. That’s really weird.
The HTML source contains references to 3.4.1 so you can also try (after you’ve made that backup) manually extracting the WordPress files on top of your installation.
http://wordpress.org/wordpress-3.4.1.zip
Right now it can’t hurt to do so.
thank u very much for your help. i will try this asap once the back up is done
since im backing up the current files now, will it also backup the problem???
