Plugins missing
-
Hi there,
A site that I use is missing it’s plugins. I have no idea what is causing this. An update has removed all the plugins from the site even though they are still on the server in the plugins folder.
The site is… http://yourfriendshouse.com/
Has anybody else encountered this?
Thanks,
Phil

Can your hosting company help you? Do they offer phone support?
They might be able to help with the database issue. They are happy to help but I am not sure what to ask them? Pardon my ignorance but can they do a rollback to when the site was working?
If you have all files and database as backup, I’d suggest you to do a full sweep reupload, it would probably be faster.
But yes, sure you can try first with plugins. The issue is, if you didn’t disabled them first, thus writing in database they are offline, it won’t work I fear.
Yes you can ask them for a rollback like when all was working for you.
Alternatively, you can kindly ask them about your database which seemed offline for a long time – that created the issue. You can show them screenshots with errors like you told us (unable to access wp_options so on)..
wp_users: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_users’ doesn’t exist
wp_usermeta: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_usermeta’ doesn’t exist
wp_posts: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_posts’ doesn’t exist
wp_links: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_links’ doesn’t exist
wp_options: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_options’ doesn’t exist
wp_postmeta: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_postmeta’ doesn’t exist
wp_terms: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_terms’ doesn’t exist
wp_term_taxonomy: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_term_taxonomy’ doesn’t existAnd I explain myself, wp_users obviously exist, because you can login as admin now. So at some point, database was surely offline or so on their end.
It’s a fail I think on their side. Just ask kindly if your database cluster had an issue or so.
See if they can help you fix the database, and if they have a backup of your DB. If so they might be able to restore your DB. Is your hosting cpanel or cloud?
Ok, i have contacted hosting and told them about all of these things. Thank you for your help everyone. I will let you know the outcome in case it can help someone else out there. π
You’re welcome, I’ll try to follow up in 24 hours. In general a good host make full backups of everything every 24 hours (at least), so. I hope they’ll be able to recover your site π
Hope it helps,
Nice advices, we’ll see and hope we helped a little,
I’ll be watching. Good luck
Ok, web hosting came back with…
I have just gone over the files of your website and it looks as though every php file has been compromised by malicious code which would be used by the hackers to perform their exploits.
This issue is too complex for us to repair and we would suggest contacting a website security team, such as Sucuri (https://sucuri.net/website-antivirus/malware-removal), to go over and clean and secure your website. If this option is not good for you the only other method we can see fit at the moment would be to rebuild the website from scratch.
Doesn’t look good.
Wow!
Now I will ask first what is your OS and version please Philip?
For my Mac?
OS X Yosemite
Version 10.10.3Thank you, quite weird,
OS X is known to be almost “virus free” – like most Unix/Linux based OSes -, and host came to you with files are compromised.
Can you try an online antivirus like NOD32 for Mac please ?
http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/Now I’m really puzzled.
Sorry,
that’s ok, they recommended using https://sucuri.net/website-antivirus/signup should i try that? Client is screaming saying that I should rebuild the site but i really don’t want to do that because they will ask that i do it for free.
Well, try the scan it’s free (sucuri the one they advised).
In general, hosts are right, so do scans on your hard drive or so. (most online hosts have very powerful antivirus scans, so if they spotted something, I think something is bad too).
Then save the output to a text file or so, if no result, show screenshot to support.
Hope it helps,
