[Plugin: WPtouch iPhone] how to test?

  • Being outside of America where the iPhone is not very popular, I have no access to an iPhone. No one I know owns an iPhone that I can ask to check out my blog. So I have no real way of testing the WPTouch plugin on an iPhone.

But then I found this site: http://www.testiphone.com/

However, my blog which I have installed the WPTouch plugin on doesn’t look any different than if I loaded it in a web browser on my computer. The only difference is it doesn’t fit on the small iPhone screen and I have to scroll sideways to read the site.

I assume the developer has WPTouch installed on his own blog and so I tested it in the iPhone simulator but it also didn’t fit on the screen.

So I am left wondering if the website doesn’t really reflect what an iPhone sees in regard to this plugin, or, if the plug in is not working on my blog.

Can somone who has this plugin working please test their blog on this website and let me know if the website shows the blog just as their iPhone does?

    Thanks.

  • The site you mention doesn’t change the user agent.

    Here is a quick solution:
    1. navigate to http://www.botsvsbrowsers.com/SimulateUserAgent.asp
    2. Enter this string into the user agent field:
    Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/1A543 Safari/419.3

This will only work for a quick preview. A better method is to install “User Agent Switcher” extension for Firefox.

Thanks for the suggestion. Plugin works great for testing/designing.
