I would have to disagree. I think “stop editing” is pretty self explanatory. I suppose if you wanted to make the meaning of that statement more obvious, you could replace it with “!!!STOP EDITING!!!”
Also, I would argue that your change to the Administration Over SSL article needs to be in the Editing wp-config.php article since it’s not really exclusive to administration over SSL, and there seems to be no mention of not editing below the line that say not to edit below it.
I’m not trying to be an ass or anything, just to be clear. Although, I still think it’s funny, lol.

Here’s how I think of it. “Stop editing” doesn’t necessarily mean “Don’t place any new code after this point because it will be ignored.” It could also mean, “Go save the file now and enjoy the fruits of your labor, you awesome hacker-stud!” It only seems self-explanatory to you because you already know what it’s supposed to mean. 🙂
Please remember that people with a wide range of different abilities use WordPress, so you can’t assume that everyone will automatically understand on the basis of one brief comment. It’s not enough for it to be clear to you. It needs to be clear to everyone. I know someone who misunderstood it in exactly the way I described, so the possibility of a misunderstanding isn’t hypothetical, it’s real. This has already happened at least once, and it could easily happen again unless we bend over backwards to make it crystal clear.
I totally agree with you that the main Editing wp-config.php article should definitely say something about this. Is there a way to propose a change? I’m not actually proposing to change the Admin Over SSL article. I just added the boldface for emphasis in my post here.

Well, WordPress is open source, so you can always suggest the change to WordPress Trac and see if they will change the source. 🙂
To clarify, it’s not that it will be ignored, it’s just that placing it after that include statement renders it useless because all the code that uses those constants is included at that line.
My mistake, I thought you had made those changes to the Codex. The Codex is actually a wiki, so anyone can make edits. If I get a chance, I may edit both articles.

I wasn’t sure what the protocol was for making changes that affect everyone, so I figured I’d leave it to those who know.
