[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Image Problem

Hello,

I recently installed the W3TC onto my wordpress blog. As soon as I activated the plugin I got a server 500 error and the entire site became broken. It caused some issue with my .htaccess file. Starting with a fresh .htaccess file and deleting all the associated files with W3TC I am able to access my website again. Everything looks fine except the majority of my images are no longer appearing properly. I called Hostgator and they claim it is some kind of issue with the coding in wordpress or the URLs for the pictures. Any ideas on what could be the cause for this or how I might fix it?
