Plugin vs manual tracking via GTM
-
Hi!
I’m accustomed to deploying and managing my clients’ Google Analytics / Google Ads tracking using Tag Manager. I use GTM to deploy GA on specific pages, send specific event trigger data (usually pageviews and clicks, every once in awhile a data layer thing) to different tools, etc. I am relatively experienced + confident in doing this with GTM, but have 0 experience using it to manage ecommerce tracking.
I was hoping this plugin could handle the ecommerce product, cart, revenue data, etc. — Connecting WC to GA specifically for the ecommerce tracking component.
However I do NOT want this plugin to do anything else.
I don’t want it to deploy GA for me. I don’t want it to do any other kind of tracking. I need to be able to manage those aspects in GTM. So I just want it to manage the ecommerce portion, so I can avoid having to manually do that part in GTM.
So… Is that possible? Is there a way to use this plugin only for enhanced ecommerce, and not for basic tracking deployment? Or, if I must manage the rest of my tracking via GTM, does that mean I am forced to also do my own custom ecommerce tracking via GTM too? Or is there another plugin I could use, with more options for more ‘advanced’ users?
