Hi @drscoot,
AutoDescription’s name changed into The SEO Framework at version 2.2.5:
Changelog.
Commit.
I have considered re-submitting the plugin (the only way to change the URL directory name), but I was hesitant at that point… and now it’s too late 🙂
Traffic wise you mean? I can understand although it has been done before: https://wordpress.org/plugins/sitemap/ where the put a link to the new name…
Hi @drscoot,
Traffic wise when I first considered it, because the plugin had fewer than 200 installs and was just being promoted… and now it’s too late security wise.
Because, meanwhile, the linked plugin 80.000+ sites are unknowingly left without updates, exposing them to security vulnerabilities.
Although this probably isn’t the case for the linked plugin (yet), that could be a very possible worst case scenario.
I think I’m quite content with “autodescription”.
Even Google autocomplete registers “The SEO Framework” to this plugin’s page correctly.
Plus it does explain a very well worked on feature, and also its first feature 🙂
In the end, it doesn’t change the product’s functionality in any way; although this is the eighth time I got this question 🙂
That said, however, if WordPress.org allows slug migration (with 301 redirect, please), then I’ll be sure to jump in as a participant.
