Plugin Update Freeze

    Every since the latest core update (I don’t believe any other variables have changed), I can no longer update plugins properly. I see the following when attempting:

    “The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

    Enabling Maintenance mode…

    Updating Plugin Advanced Cron Manager (1/1) “

    It hangs on that process forever, and never actually completes. If I refresh the page after 5, 10, 20 minutes, the site is in maintenance mode. If I delete the .maintenance file, I then I find that the plugin successfully updated behind the scenes, it just didn’t show me that and froze. So in the end, plugins are updating, but I’m getting stuck on that screen, and the site is stuck in maintenance mode until I delete the file.

    Info:

    VPS (Digital Ocean)
    LEMP
    Current site has been up on this server for 6 months or greater.

    Any ideas?

    I’ve confirmed this issue is only with the latest version of WordPress. I tested a backup of the site on another domain, which uses the previous version of WordPress from 2-3 months ago, and it works perfectly.

    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
