Plugin suggestion wanted!

Hi guys!

I want my site to become a business register for local business in my municipality. I want the shops, service industry, and other business to register for free in different categories and sub-categories on the site. The idea is to create a local register where the residents in the municipality can search for – and find local manpower, services and products.

SO; the business owners must be able to register their own business in the correct category – from front-end. They must be able to add static information like;
– what kind of services or products they offer
– street address
– phone number
– web address
– opening hours
– etc

The big question is: What plugin would do the trick? Should I use BuddyPress and change “members” to “business name” and let them upload logo instead of an avatar picture? I’m not sure how I can create categories and sub categories in a BuddyPress “member structure” – or if it is possible to categorize members at all?? Any ideas? Is it possible? Or is there other solutions/plugins out there?

I hope someone with some WP experience in this area would give me a tip in the right direction…
