Plugin Stolen?

  • I’m the author of a WordPress plugin called Sharebar: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sharebar/

Someone else has reposted the plugin here (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cevhershare/) and the only things they’ve changed are the name/credit and donation link, which they’ve changed to their own.

While the plugin is released under GPL, MIT and BSD license, it seems a bit counterintuitive to have people downloading the exact same thing from two different sources. Also, I don’t think any of those licenses allows someone to copy the code exactly and just swap my name with theirs.

Any suggestions and feedback are appreciated!

  • Scratch that – it isn’t exactly the same, he has modified the plugin to include language support. I guess the best option is to contact the plugin author and request that proper credit be given for the original plugin.

I’ll update this post with my progress, in case any other plugin developers are going through a similar experience.

Hi, great plugin. Any plans for a compatibility update for wp3.3?

Yes! the coder made this fully for wp3.3.1 and its an excellent alternative of other floating social lugins
