Right in the dashboard, the plugin has disappeared but is installed, active, and working but I can not see it so I can not change the tables or create new ones.

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.
I assume that somehow the access capabilities got modified, e.g. by a User management plugin. Please try the idea from https://wordpress.org/support/topic/tablepress-not-visible-2/#post-8404506
