    I am also looking for this shortcode as I am facing the same problem. [events] only works on a post or page!

    I wanted the [events] to work in a sidebar widget. So I searched for the answer at the developer’s site and discovered you have to add some short code to your functions.php file. and then the [events] in the sidebar widget works.
    Add the [events] to your sidebar widget then . . .
    Add this to your functions.php file:
    <?php
    //Simple Events Calendar function to display Calendar in Text Widget Sidebar
    add_filter(‘widget_text’, ‘do_shortcode’);
    ?>
    That should do the trick – it worked for me. :<)

    Hi mdspaula and iammathews,

    Thanks for explaining the process for adding the Simple Events Calendar plugin to the sidebar mdspaula. I will try to add this options to the plugin so you don’t have to add any code to the functions.php file anymore.
