[Plugin: Query Posts] entry_meta > Custom Field?

  • Is it possible to have Query Posts show a custom field value? I see that the information about “entry_meta” states it is “short-code ready” to allow you to show entry meta data after the post.

Does this mean that if I can create a shortcode to snag a specific custom field…I’ll call it [news_blurb], that I could then type [news_blurb] into the Query Post “entry_meta” field and deliver what I want?

What I’d like to do is have a custom field show in the widget’s output. Basically listing a News category’s Titles, then a custom field “news blurb.” In my case the using the excerpt is too long. Entry content can be truncated with a “more” but I’d really like just have a blurb that could be input into a post’s custom field and show that. It’s a cleaner method for the site author than inserting “more” into the actual entry content.

Anyone have a good “get custom fields shortcode” tutorial?
