plugin problem Fatal error: Call to undefined function

I tried to install the tweetstream plugin. when I created the app on twitter it killed my sight. I am using 2.9.2. The fatal error i receive is Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_new_subnav_item(). I have tried deleting this and other plugins and cannot get around this error.
