    Hello –

I’ve tried to add two plugins to my wordpress/content/plugins folder but they don’t appear on my plugins page. Note: I’ve added a few plugins with no problems over the past week.

The only thing I changed since then was I changed my domain from http://www.rustedrobot.com/wordpress to http://www.rustedrobot.com.

Can anyone help me figure out why new plugins no longer appear on my plugins page?

    Thanks!
    Jeff

Did you check to see if you had a nested folder Plugin/plugin. It will not appear unless you only put the inside folder. If that’s not the problem, hopefully someone else will help you cuz that’s all I got 🙂

not sure what you mean by “nested folder Plugin/plugin?”

Sometimes when you extract the zip folder it will create a hierarchy of folders like the following: there is one folder that contains nothing else but another folder by the same or similar name. This inner folder contains all the actual files for the plugin you need. What you need to do is upload only the inner folder into the plugins directory on your wordpress installation. I know it could sound confusing, but let me know if you didn’t get that, or if it does not fix the problem.

Check permissions on the new plugin folders.

how do I check permissions on plugin folders? thanks!

I’m told that all my permissions are fine and I should be able to do anything with my files. So I am back at square one: when I upload plugins to the wordpress/content/plugins folder, it’s not appearing on my plugins dashboard in WordPress. Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

    What are the 2 plugins?

    1. wp-contact-form
    2. flickr-feedr

to reiterate, adding plugins was working fine until I changed my domain from http://www.rusterobot.com/wordpress to just http://www.rustedrobot.com. Not sure if it’s a coincidence or not…..

    thanks!

Have you changed your wordpress url to match the new domain. I just thought about that. Look under you dashboard > Options > General > and see if the WordPress url matches your new domain name; ie with the trailing /wordpress.

    Thread Starter rustedrobot

    (@rustedrobot)

no, they are different. are you saying it should?

    Thread Starter rustedrobot

    (@rustedrobot)

ok, so I changed the wordpress URL to match http://www.rustedrobot.com and it basically ruined my blog. see http://www.rustedrobot.com. It’s nothing but text now. I went to switch the URL’s on the options page back to the original way I had it – and it still is broken. I really, really need help here. can someone please help me to:

    a) get my site back to looking “normal”
    b) help me understand and fix the issue with uploaded plugins not appearing on my plugins tab

    thanks so much!

    http://rustedrobot.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-admin%2Findex.php
