    You don’t need to break up the shortcode – you can do it with CSS. Float the slideshow div left, and the thumbnail div left as well, make sure the parent container is wide enough to contain them both, and you’ll be OK.

    Take a look at this illustrator who did it and see if you can replicate her CSS:
