• First, and foremost, I must mention that I am using the NextGen Gallery in conjunction with the JJ NextGen JQuery Slider plugin.

    ….

Is there a way to schedule photos to be published for a certain day in advance, similar to how you would schedule a post?

If so, is it, then, possible to do the same with excluding certain photos in the Exclude checkbox?

The reason I ask is I have someone I’m building a comic site for who posts his strip every Wednesday. If he has to be out of town for some reason, he would like to have the ability to schedule these photos to post in the gallery, which would, in turn, only post the photos and thumbnails to the slideshow we have on our page on the appropriate day.

Please see: http://www.caaats.com for an example of what we’re currently working with.

If anyone can give me any ideas, solutions, or work-arounds, I’d greatly appreciate it! Or, if anyone can tell me of another gallery system that does have a ‘publish-in-advance’ feature that would work with an image scroller plugin, that would work, too. Thanks! 🙂

  • I’m wondering if you heard anything or made any progress on this as I’m keen to access the same functionality.

I’m using Nextgen to ‘feed’ a daily blog. The posts are scheduled no problem, but the images I’ve added to the gallery by way of a ‘queue’ waiting to be posted show up on the gallery page before I want them to.

I don’t know if this will help you redneony, but I’ve found a workaround that more-or-less works for me.

I have set up two galleries: ‘queue’ and ‘daily’. In the ‘daily’ gallery are images already posted; in the other are images waiting to be posted. When adding posts, I insert the image using the NextGen image id, e.g.

    [singlepic id=21 w=600 h=600 float=center]

The image id doesn’t change when you move an image between galleries, so in this way I can schedule to post an image from the ‘queue’ gallery. Then, when I have time, I move the posted image(s) from ‘queue’ to ‘daily’, which makes them visible on my archive gallery page, which only draws from the ‘daily’ gallery.

Hope that makes some sense. Bottom line: my scheduled posts make new images visible without having to make them visible on the gallery page first. Adding to images to the visible gallery needs to happen manually.
