• Hi,

I’m running into a new issue with NextGen and the Lightbox 2 plugin which I’ve used together without problem on many sites.

I’m not sure what version the issue was introduced at but, with 1.7.3, it seems that when I display galleries as thumbnails (in this case, using AJAX pagination), the LightBox plugin “takes over” the display and pagination of the large images even if I have NexGen set to use Shutter as instructed as I use Ajax pagination for the thumbs.

The effect is that the large image pagination moves from one gallery to the next on the page (all galleries are displayed on the same page) instead of honoring the 5 thumbnails limit I set. You can see a typical gallery page here (site still in development):

You won’t see the problem now as I disabled the Lightbox 2 plugin on the network but I’d like to be able to use it for other stuff. I can re-enable it if you need to see the problem in action.

    Thanks!

  • Pixelyzed,

I have the same issue. Lightbox paginates all the images on the pages as opposed to images within the associated gallery. I tried putting them in separate albums like this album1/gallery1 album2/gallery2 but still same issue. Were you able to resolve this? If not let me know and I’ll email you if I find an answer.

I’m actually not using the Lightbox 2 plugin anymore. It’s not updated anymore. On the site I spoke about 9 months ago I uninstalled it and use just Shutter with NextGen.

I’m still looking for the best lightbox type plugin for NextGen as Shutter is a user experience compromise for me but at least it’s functional for now.

Actually I use shutter as well, but the pagination problem is the same. I have three separate galleries on the same page, and it puts all the images in the same group when shutter pops up.

I emailed Alex Rabe offering $$$ to fix, but who knows. If I figure it out, I’ll let you know. Seems like an issue that should have already been addressed. Then again, free…

I see. I don’t get the pagination issue with Shutter myself though, so you might have another plugin interfering with NextGen and Shutter. I display multiple galleries on the same page, all with Ajax pagination and, with Shutter, it works fine.

    Weird.

Those three galleries (rental properties) are separate IDs. I have a [random id=2 max=2]
    [random id=3 max=2]
    [random id=1 max=4]

I have each gallery in it’s own album. When you click on any photo it Shutters with a pagination like (5/8), as if it’s been given a position out of 8 photos (2+2+4).

Btw, I used a plugin called “jquery-lightbox-balupton-edition” in addition to Nextgen gallery and enabled lightbox, worked great out of the box. Same pagination problem though, oddly enough.

Got an answer from Alex Rabe (nextgen gallery developer guy). He said this issue comes up when using the RANDOM or RECENT shortcodes, but does work with NGGALLERY shortcode (so that pagination works correctly).
