    Hi,

I seem to have the same installation problems as a lot of others with NextGEN Gallery, and that is problem to generate database tables.

Downloading the plugin works fine, but when I activate it, the following message appear:

“Please update the database of NextGEN Gallery. Click here to proceed.

NextGEN Gallery : Tables could not created, please check your database settings”

So I click to proceed. That results in
“Please update the database of NextGEN Gallery. Click here to proceed.

NextGEN Gallery : Tables could not created, please check your database settings

The script detect that you upgrade from a older version. Your database tables for NextGEN Gallery is out-of-date, and must be upgraded before you can continue. If you would like to downgrade later, please make first a complete backup of your database and the images.

The upgrade process may take a while, so please be patient.
    Start upgrade now…”

But, I am not upgrading from earlier version, this is a first time install on a completely new and fresh WordPress installtion.

So I start the upgrade. That results in
“Could not find NextGEN Gallery database tables, upgrade failed !

    Upgrade finished…”

I run version 1.7.3 of NextGEN gallery.

    Any suggestions?
    Regards – Mikael Brodd

Yep, found the problem. For some reason, my hosting company doesn’t allow the WP database user to add tables by default. Very strange.

So if you use Swedish hosting company Loopia, check your database user’s settings.
