Plugin loading template doesn not respect set characters for excerpt

I have this plugin installed on an archive page and the excerpt there doesn’t respect the character amount I have set in functions. On the homepage, I have a custom query and there it does. Any idea why this is happening on the plugin page when I am using the same code on both instances?
