For a few days now I’m not receiving the mails with the codes for the 2FA and the backup codes aren’t working so I’m unable to log in. I followed the steps to disable the plugin (both changing the folder’s name, disabling from the php and from the wordpress database) but its still live so I’m completely locked out.

How can I disable the plugin or is there any way to get the mails or use another method to log in

    Thanks

    Hello @levzheiral

I am sorry to read about your issue. Let’s start with first restoring access to your website.

You said you changed the plugin’s folder name, yet you are still being asked for the 2FA code. If that is the case, then this issue is not being caused by our plugin. Once you rename the folder, there is no way for our plugin to work.

The plugin’s folder name is wp-2fa. Can you please confirm that it is the folder you renamed?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hello, thanks for the reply,

Yes I can confirm that the plugin folder I renamed is wp-2fa inside the wp-content folder. I’m unsure why the change isn’t working and don’t know what else could be the problem.

Thank you for the update @levzheiral

Then I can confirm that the 2FA prompt you are seeing is not from our plugin. It is not technically possible for our plugin to run after the folder has been renamed, unless someone else has admin access, and after you renamed the folder they manually activated the plugin.

My recommendation would be to go through the list of plugins and check which other plugins might be possibly showing a 2FA prompt. Usually 2FA is included in security, login page and authentication plugins.

    I hope the above helps.
