• Hi there,

I am a very basic wordpress user. I need to redirect one site to another site. I have tried to install a plugin to allow me to do this, however, I keep getting the following message:

    Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/quick-pagepost-redirect-plugin.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Could not create directory. /home/content/45/11293945/html/wp-content/plugins/quick-pagepost-redirect-plugin/

    Plugin install failed.

I have read a number of chains helping people with this, but I am not a developer and cannot follow the suggestions of installing it manually and have no FTP access. I also cannot seem to change permissions, and I don’t want to break anything.

I’m sure it’s a straightforward fix, but I’m totally stuck! Help!

    Thanks

  • This has nothing to do with the plugin, but has to do with your folder permission settings for your plugin folder.

If you have access to a control panel for your hosting (NOT the WordPress admin area), then you might be able to adjust it.

If you have access to a control panel, look for the File Manager. Then navigate to the wp-content folder. Then select the plugins folder and see what the current permissions are set to. If they are not 755, then set the permissions to 755. If they were changed for security reasons, then change them, install your plugins and then change it back to what it was prior.

If you have issues, you may have to contact your host provider to have them change it or tell you what to do to change it.

    Best of luck.
