• How do I recover from a plugin install that did not make it all the way? I attempted an installation that did not succeed and the plugin does not show up in the list of installed plugins. However, when I try to install it again, this is what I get:

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/moontube/public_html/wp-content/plugins/PrimaryPlugins7-29-10/

    Plugin install failed.
    ****************
How can I delete the faulty subdirectory so I can make a clean installation of the plugin?

  • Using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

Thanks esmi. I did what you suggested. However, there is still a problem. My host’s file manager shows the new plugin along with my other plugins. However, the WP plugins screen does not show it. This is the same indication I was getting before, so I suspect the plugin was indeed there originally on my host, but somehow it is not showing up on wp-admin/plugins.php. Any help would be appreciated.

Try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.

    Hi Esmi,

I don’t know what you mean by restting the plugins folder. Using Filezilla for FTP, I can see the plugins folder on the remote site. I don’t see how to “reset” it.

Please see the link I gave above.

Ive Just installed the WP E Commerce Plugin and now i get a internal 500 server error, do you think ” Try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. ” would help?

    Thanks 🙂
