I am considering upgrading to EM Pro, and I have a few questions about it. I hope this is the right place to ask them.

The main functionality I am looking for from the PRO upgrade/add-on is the ability to collect payments via paypal (which I know IS possible), however most of my clients tend to pay a deposit (usually by paypal) to secure their place and then pay the balance (usually in cash) at the event. I understand there is a concept of “part payments” in the pro add on. Is it possible to use this to handle payment of deposits and can I set what the deposit is for each event? Also is it possible to make payment of the deposit mandatory before the booking is confirmed?

Next I understand that purchasing the pro add-on for $75 gives 1 year’s worth of upgrades and support. What happens after the year? I understand that ‘the pro add-on’ will continue to function but cannot be upgraded. Does it mean that I can no longer upgrade the basic EM plug-in as well? If I wanted to continue to receive updates at the end of the year what (approximately) is the price to upgrade the pro plug-in after that time.

  • about partial payment using paypal, this might not be possible atm however you can use offline payment – http://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/offline-event-payments-bookings/

after one year, you cannot access em pro updates and new features but you can still update and use em basic since it’s free.

deposits aren’t something we’ve implemented yet. a lot of people ask this so for sure it’ll get done at some point this year.

r.e. upgrades, Pro is an add-on, so only that won’t have access to updates at the end of the year. That’s all, nothing will stop working etc. Currently to renew the plugin updates it’s $75 per year.

I got a little lost in this thread. At the end of one year the plugin’s pro features are lost? Or, they are kept but are just disqualified from further upgrades. If the latter and I just mosey along for a bunch of months in “as is” mode because I’m happy with things “as is” and I suddenly lose my happy feeling I can still pay my $75.00 for another year of upgrades?

After a year, does the Pro version stop working if I don’t renew?

No it does not. Events Manager Pro will continue working indefinitely. However, you will not have access to plugin updates and new features. Since WordPress is regularly maintained and improved on, we can’t guarantee that older versions of Events Manager will continue to work with future versions of WordPress.

certainly, you can renew whenever you wish. this is purely for access to updates and support, your pro plugin will never stop working due to expired licenses
