Plugin: Events Manager: Excerpt function in events list not working

I’ve just started using events manager and I’m trying out the excerpt function for the events list.

It’s displaying the whole notes section (see site) and I can’t see why.

The details field in the events set up page says:
…Free workshops for parents who are looking for ideas and enjoy sharing their parenting experience and expertise. Think about:

• The challenging thoughts and behaviours <!––more––>you have come across as a parent
• The strategies that worked and the ones that didn’t

…

and I have asked for this to be displayed:

FYI, I have also noticed my Default event list format is not automatically coming up in the events list widget

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
