I’m trying to import events by script.

Trying to add categories to $EM_Event is giving me troubles. There is an attribute $EM_Event->category, but setting an id to this attribute doesn’t result in a linked category.

Any advice on how to get the event linked to a category?

The problem in the given topic is showing the categories at the frontend. I’m having troubles getting categories linked in the database.

The $EM_Event object only has a getCategories() function, I’m looking for a setCategories() function equivilant, to be able to add categories to an $EM_Event using PHP. (since it’s an import, I obviously can’t use the edit page)

sorry about that, misread your post; however you can try to use wp_set_object_terms or do_action('em_categories_save',....) since EM categories are custom taxonomies.

I’d try doing this the WP way if I were you. EM is a custom post and Categories a custom taxonomy.

e.g. we use
wp_set_object_terms($this->post_id, $term_slugs, EM_TAXONOMY_CATEGORY);
