Hi! Last week I installed Yoast and was happy with the plugin and considering purchase. Today I updated and.. Poof – It was gone! Yoast simply disappeared from the list of plugins. I tried re-installing, but that failed, as the folder already existed. What can I do to resolve this? I attempted to rename the original folder, but I could not locate it in my file system. Where is it? Not in the list of plugins! Any suggestions are welcome. Cheers, M.

  • @studiostilla, if you are unable to locate the Yoast plugin inside /plugins/ folder on your server, it could have been deleted accidentally. No worries, Yoast SEO data still remains safe in the database. Simply download the latest version and activate the plugin.

That’s exactly what I tried to do, but then I received the error message above. So, re-installing from scratch does not seem to work..

    Hi,

We are not sure why the plugin was removed but we do know all your SEO data is expected to be saved and re-appear. If you are getting warnings about how the folder or files already exists, you will need to use File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to install the plugin.

You can learn more about how to update manually using FTP here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-premium-plugin/#manual (ignore step 1) and download the plugin off this site here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/

You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can be obtained from your host provider.
