Plugin causing loopback request to fail

When I have this plugin enabled on two sites, I get the following error in the site health status:

“The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”

Once I deactivate the plugin, the error goes away. Reactivate the plugin and it returns. This is the same on both sites.

I really like this plugin, so I would like to resolve this issue so that I can continue to use it.
