plugin causes Admin Menu -> Appearance -> Edit CSS to not save

When I activate the plugin and go to the admin panel, appearance -> edit CSS and click ‘save stylesheet’ a white page loads with the text:
{"status":"success","id":15,"message":"Save successful.<\/span>"}
but it does not actually save the stylesheet!
