    Hi Zoltok,

I haven’t seen that error before, could you give me some details about your setup, server etc.

Do you get the error every time you try to activate it?

Hmm… okay, I just tried again to activate it, and it seemed to work. But when I navigate to the “Backups” section under “Tools” (that’s where you’ve moved it to I suppose?), this is what I get below the Compatability title:

Warning: shell_exec() has been disabled for security reasons in /usr/home/communop/public_html/dev/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/functions/backup.files.functions.php on line 133

    <em>[Errors moderated]</em>

You can fix this by adding 1 to your wp-config.php file. run which mysqldump on your server to find the path or ask your server administrator.

    I’m having the same problem

Warning: shell_exec() has been disabled for security reasons in […]/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/functions/backup.files.functions.php on line 133

Thanks for the bug report guys, your host must have disabled shell_exec, I’ve just released an update to better handle situations where shell_exec isn’t available, even without shell_exec your backups should work fine.

Could I ask which hosts you are both on, it would be useful for me to know which hosts are disabling shell_exec so I can test and look for workarounds.

You can add Network Solutions to the list of hosts that disable shell_exec

    I’m on iWeb.

I should note though, that I haven’t been able to successfully backup since the update. I have the “Backup running” message, but no backup.

I’m a bit concerned, since this plugin was working perfectly for me before.

Could you try updating to version 1.1 and then de-activating + re-activating the plugin.

Then try a manual backup and see if that works. If not could you send me a screenshot of your manage backups page.

Also do you have access to your server error_logs? It would be useful to know for debugging purposes.

Just updated, deactivated and reactivated. Now, when I hit “Back Up Now”, the page reloads, but nothing happens.

Screenshot and error logs have been emailed to you.

In case anyone has the same problem – the root of the problem came from the fact that the website was password protected. The .htaccess file was interfering with the plugin.
