    Gaurav,

    I’m really excited to see this plugin.

    I have a very large database on a family blog that’s been going for almost 7 years. I think the database is large and the photo files and everything add up to several gigs. It’s whippleworld.com

    I have it hosted with GoDaddy and the database was built on the old version of SQL and WordPress 3.0 requires the newer version. I have a new database setup on my hosting account but I need to move the database. It’s staying on the same host just into a new database.

    Would it matter to this plugin if the file it’s moving is that large?

    I really appreciate your help.

    The easiest way is, to go into the orignal folder where MySQL was built (a.k.a. MySQL40) and copy the folder/directory called “DATA” (it’s contents) to the new MySQL direcotry (a.k.a MySQL55) and paste the contents of the original “DATA” folder into that folder and it should do the trick….

    P.S. while doing the install to WP 3.0.5 use the original wp-config.php file during the install, it will then more than likeley tell you that it is going to upgrade the database (and backup your files, which you will have once you did the copy in the first step)

    I have tested this plugin on my blog logiclord.com with a backup size of about 144 mb.My plug in doesn’t store the sql data directly but try to generate sql query from your current database.Hence, i don’t see any problem in backing up your site if your wordpress installation is newer then 2.7 otherwise i would recommend you to upgrade wordpress and then use my plug in to shift. If you have access to mySQL folder then you can follow rsgrone’s advice that will also work.
