I’ve just released v2.0 of my first plugin, Destination After Save.

Destination After Save adds a meta box to your admin sidebar when editing a post, page, or custom post type post.

Inside this meta box is a dropdown menu with destination choices, such as Edit (default WordPress behavior), View, Add New, as well as each other post of the type you’re currently editing, meaning your destination can be to edit another post.

Upon saving the post, after all save actions have been completed, you’ll be redirected to your destination.

I’ve also included a setting on each user’s profile that will allow them to choose the default setting for this meta box. The choices are Edit (WordPress default behavior) and View.

Changing this setting to View means that if you leave the meta box dropdown option unchanged, saving a post will now take you to view the post instead of continuing to edit.

Each user can choose this option independently.
