    hello,

I have been getting a 404 error when I go to /wp-admin to log in to my dashboard. I found a workaround to get into my dashboard, but unfortunately it keeps booting me out to the error page. I recently narrowed it down to the Shield Security plug-in. I’m using the latest version. Any idea how I can solve this issue?

    Hi Benny,

You’re getting 404 error when you have your login URL changed with Shield and you’re trying to access it but you’re not logged in. If you’re logged in, you’ll not get this 404 error.

This feature can be found under the Shield Security Dashboard => Login Guard => Hide WP Login Page.

This is how this feature works:

Normally, when you try access your WordPress admin area you are automatically forwarded to the login page. To ensure your login page remains hidden, you will receive a 404 page not found error instead. It will appear as if your WordPress admin doesn’t exist.

When you try to access any page within the ‘wp-admin’ section of your site, you will receive a 404 Not Found error page. If you’re not logged in, these links will fail.

You may find further details on this here:

If you don’t want to use this feature, you’ll need to remove your custom login URL:

If you have any trouble with getting back into your site, you may use a forceoff method:

Once you’re in, you can remove your custom login URL explained above.

    Hope this helps.
