• Please! I really am desperate for help!
I have asked twice before but nobody has ever replied to me! πŸ™

I updated to 3.3.1 and now I can’t add any links, not to posts or external URLs. I really need to know how to sort this out. It’s killing my traffic!

  • Have you tried and deactivate plugins see if one of the plugin is conflicting and letting you add links.

    chatzakity…

We need more information about what you are trying to do. Can you log into the admin panel? Are you trying to add hyperlinks to an existing post? A page? Updating the menu? If you need help, you need to be more specific so that we can better help troubleshoot.

What exactly is happening, as in tell us the steps you take before you run into this issue. An example might be… “I can log into the admin section, but when I edit a post I don’t get an option to do {this} anymore…” or “I can’t even log into the admin section, all I get is a white screen”. Give us something! Saying that you can’t add any links is very vague.

OK. Sorry, let me be more specific.
I have no issues getting into my admin site, the problems are when I’m posting.
When I am writing a post/page I can add links to my other pages or even external pages.
Before I updated my wordpress I used to click on the add media button above the toolbar and paste the URL and the text I wanted and it would appear in my text.
Now the button is no longer there, instead there is one in the toolbar that says link. I click on that, add my URL and text, click OK and nothing happens.
It doesn’t matter if the URL is one of my pages or an external site.

The Add Media button isn’t for adding links.

To add a link in the visual editor, select the text you want to be the link text and click the link button in the toolbar. It looks like 2 loops of a chain joined together. That should be the one you’ve been using.

It’ll ask you for URL and title and the button says ‘Add Link’. If you’ve done this successfully, the text should turn blue. You won’t be able to follow the link in the editor, but once you publish the post, the link shows up.

If the above still doesn’t work, perhaps your theme or a plugin is causing a conflict.

Duh! Yeah, I’ve found that button now and it works, thanks. I used to add it through the add media button before I updated and it was fine.

Anyways, thanks so much for helping me out. I really appreciate it! :)))
