Hi I have just installed wordpress 3.0.1 I got past the installation screen ok then I was taken to the wp-admin but this page was just full of the files and I was actually taken to the Index of /blog/wp-admin.

So I have not seen the wp-admin screen and my website is not showing up when I try online. can anyone give me a few pointers?

Try adding:

DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm

to the top of your root .htaccess file.

Maybe it is a hosting issue?

ps this may sound daft but im new to this where is the root .htaccess file

Same folder as your wp-config.php file. It’s a hidden file so you may need to set your FTP app to show hidden files.

I have set this to show hidden files and still cannot find it. Any other reasons?

I changed prefrence settings, there was a few unticked so I ticked all of them, make sure there is no restrictions.
