Try:
– deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
I’ve tried both those options, and that save button is still kicking around!! Any other ideas?

In that case it’s probably an issue with your theme. Which theme are you using?
I’m using Foodie Pro/Genesis. Tried switching to TwentySixteen and that didn’t work either.

Can you keep that theme active with all plugins deactivated? That can help us debug the issue.

I see you still have “genesis” theme active.
As @anevins recommended, please deactivate ALL plugins. With ALL plugins deactivated, then switch to default theme 🙂
Then I will go back and check the site.

Okay: all plugins are deactivated and I’ve activated TwentySeventeen. The save button is hanging out in its usual spot 🙂

Are you using cloudflare?
If so, try clearing cache.

Another thing to check is if you have a pinterest browser extension.
I was, but all the plugins are deactivated and I’ve purged all caching.
If you had the pinterest browser extension running at one time, when you were editing posts, then it’s possible that the extension inserted that save button into your editor itself, and then when you saved the post, it saved the HTML for the button as well.
Edit the post in Text/HTML mode and look for the big chunks of span gibberish. Those are the button, likely one added for each time you edited the post. Remove those from the post, resave, and it should be gone.
The short of it is that the Pinterest code kinda sorta blows. Both the extensions and their plugins. They do weird things to pages sometimes.
@otto42 That was it!!! Thank you so much. It was driving me c r a z y.
Have a good one!
