• Started getting this error last month and I was hoping that it would resolve after version 4 upgrade but nope … After upgrading to 4.0.3 I’m still getting the same error

    Array ( [api_error_code] => 3 [message] => Authorization failed. [code] => API_ERROR [target] => [http_status] => 401 )

I opened a support ticket but so far it has been ignored.

Anyone else having the same issue?

This error simply means your password is incorrect.

My login / password are correct. I’m able to login directly using the same login / pass .. but it is not working through the SNAP. The error started to appear all of a sudden (without me changing anything on Pinterest or within the script) and not only on one site but other sites as well (where I have SNAP installed). I’m in Canada. I noticed that now when I go to Pinterest.com the domain changes to Pinterest.ca

I’m able to log into pinterest.ca using the same login / pass as pinterest.com

Could it be something that has to do with Pinterest.com redirecting to Pinterest.ca which is causing the error that I’m getting ?? Is anyone else having the same issues??

    Thanks,

We just checked a site from one of our users who’s got this error.

It turned out that this site has a thing called “Sucuri Security Firewall” installed.

That nice piece of software decided that it is not secure to send Pinterest authorization info from the site to Pinterest. So it is just removing it from SNAP requests. As a result requests go out without authorization info and Pinterest correctly returns “Authorization failed” error.

We put a workaround that will make it somehow workable, but you need to figure out how to whitelist SNAP with that “Sucuri Security Firewall”. All SNAP requests should go out unmodified by any third party services.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

I’ve contacted my hosting company and waiting to hear from them

Where can I find the workaround instructions ??

    Thanks,

Workaround is included in the API version 4.0.24. Please go to the Help/Support page and click “[Check for API Update]”

I just updated to the latest version 4.0.4…

and after updating… I tested with one of my existing posts for posting to Pinterest and it worked! Seems like the update fixed the problem. 🙂

When I make a new post … I’ll find out if the auto post is working.

    Thank you!
