pingomatic and example

    I am looking at settings > writing and i see
    example.com for mail server
    and
    pingomatic for update services

    i didnt write those
    are they default?
    should they stay there? do they have benefit? if so what? or should i delete them?

    Those are the defaults. 🙂

    example.com for the mail server, just to illustrate what goes there.

    Ping-o-Matic for the update service because it pings multiple sites that still accept pings: http://pingomatic.com/ (in the old days, it pinged somewhere around 25 different services, but most have closed down over the years).

    I recommend leaving both as-is, unless you plan to operate your own mail server.
