Pinboard: Custom Sidebars

I realized what was causing an issue with my sidebars disappearing completely – I had a custom sidebar plugin installed. Unfortunately this plugin is integral to my site. Does anyone have suggestions for a work around, or is there a possibility of fixing this incompatibility in future updates?
