Hi @sarahweb, thanks for highlighting this issue.
This warning message is from part of the test that checks plugins against the version in the WordPress.org repository for validity. It appears as if you have a plugin installed that doesn’t return a version number for some reason.
If the scan still completes successfully, you can choose to ignore the error. However, disabling all plugins except for Wordfence, then reenabling them one-by-one until the error returns should shed some light on which plugin has the issue.
Thanks,
Peter.
Thank you for your reply – I will dig into it and see which plugin although a bit annoying that nothing showed up in wordfence only logs and nothing in scan either! Anyway at least I know where to look now – thank you
Hi @sarahweb, glad to assist!
The version information should never missing due to the required plugin data that WordPress require to approve and update plugins on their repository. This is somewhat of an anomaly, and if you do discover which plugin causes the error to be thrown, it may be worth also noting it to their support too so that it can be rectified for future versions.
Thanks,
Peter.
Thanks Peter I think I know which plugin is doing it and I think I know why! A plugin was taken over by someone new and took it in a wrong direction so I was using a fixed in time plugin that did what it did .. so no revisions etc needed – but if its pinging these kind of errors I will look into getting something better – thank you though this has really helped
