• When I attempt to run the install of WordPress I have found that the php extension is associated with Microsoft Picture It! 2.0 and it askes me for a CD to install.

What file associatin should I use in Windows for the php extension to get it to function properly?

  • that sounds like you’re trying to run it via your local computer? If you have it on a web server, you will need to set up a database, and use a browser (like IE or Firefox) to run the install scripts.

The only way to run it locally is to set up a server or use xampp.

hmm Windows isn’t probably the right OS for installing WordPress 😉

Are you sure you know how to handle web applications? You definitely must have a webserver and a database server running to get wordpress working. You may get an easy running WAMP package at http://www.apachefriends.org but even in this case you should know how things work with apache and mysql – otherwise have a look at wordpress.com and get your free instant wordpress blog.
