PHP 8 Compatibility Issue with Latte Theme

    Hi Hardeep,

    I hope you’re doing well. I’m reaching out regarding an issue with the Latte theme (v2.1.1) on my website.

    My hosting provider has informed me that as of 22 January 2026, they will require PHP 8.2 or higher. If I do not update PHP myself, an automatic PHP Extended Support add-on will be activated at €5 per month per domain. This is to keep the site safe and stable, but I would prefer not to incur extra costs.

    Here’s the problem:

    • When I upgrade PHP, the Latte theme triggers a fatal error: Call to undefined function create_function() in latte-services.php
    • Even PHP 8.0 does not work with the current theme version.
    • I’ve deactivated Nimble Portfolio and all other plugins for testing, so the issue clearly comes from the theme itself.

    Since this is a PHP 8 compatibility issue in the theme, I cannot safely update PHP to meet the hosting requirement. Could you please advise on how to make the Latte theme compatible with PHP 8.2?

    If a fixed version is not yet available, I would appreciate guidance on temporary solutions, because otherwise I’d either need to pay the hosting add-on fee or risk my site breaking.
