• I have all my photos ready to plug into some sort of gallery. I’ve put them all in Media Library. But I cannot find a way or a little widget that would display the photos as thumbnails in a gallery format.

Can anyone help? Look here to see what I tried to make work and I would really like something similar if you all thinks its a possibility. this slideshow was made in Windows Live Writer, free program.

PS Thanks for any help you might be able to provide:)

  • I think you forgot to attach a link to whatever you were trying to show

However, WP has thumbnail galleries built in
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Gallery_Shortcode

It’s always worked well for me.
However, display is contingent upon theme css

The galleries can look good, or terrible depending on your theme

Oh thanks so much. The theme is from Elegant themes. I guess you pay 39.00 for a membership that gives you access to all sorts of WordPress “extra” themes. You can see it on my site,. Or the blog I used the Windows Live Writer gallery is here,

If you know of a gallery that might look good on this theme any help is appreciated. Many of the galleries(codex)don’t show you any example of how they look, do they? maybe I missed that, Denise:)

Well, the gallery is only really built into WP as a function.

The actual look of the gallery is completely theme dependent.

I would hope these themes have demo sites or something which will show you a gallery layout.

I really prefer WPs built in gallery, so I don’t add weight/loading time, etc when not needed

The plugin I used to use for galleris was
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/

Which has a lot of features, including various gallery layouts

But again, the thing about photo galleries is that a theme controls your layout. So it is impossible to truly understand how a theme will look across the board. It is an interaction between theme and plugin (or built in gallery)

    thank you rev. voodoo,

I am trying to figure out the template from “elegant themes” and am getting it. If I have any further trouble and frustration though I will replace the theme with on from WordPress(directly and free templates). Thank you so much for the link. This statement on your link “Templates : You can add custom templates for your theme.” makes me wonder if the ephoto theme from Elegant themes can actually be used with this gallery of yours?? Would be nice to try it out and see if it is easier for me to use than the one my “helper” put up.

Can you see my page and give me your “take” on it? http://tocatchamiracle.com It obviously has a ways to go;) Denise

Hey voodoo, I can’t find the directory for WP to upload your plugin? The one that opens links in a new page by default? Can you help me? Denise

whoops, I mean I found that plugin. I just can’t find the directory to install the plugins into. Can you tell me where the directory is? thanks, Denise

Well…. that’s not really my plugin, just one I have used

I’m not super familiar with doing any customizing….. what sort of template are you trying to upload?
