Google Analytics should work even if you don’t add the data-phast-no-defer attribute, but it is better if it is added, since it makes the visit tracking more reliable.
I’ve contacted the creator of GA Google Analytics to ask him whether he can add the attribute in the scripts output by that plugin.
In the meantime you could manually add the Google Analytics script to your page instead of using a plugin.

The creator of GA Google Analytics has let me know that the next update should contain a new hook that allows PhastPress to be disabled for the scripts inserted by that plugin.
Until then, you can leave it as it is, or manually insert your Google Analytics scripts.

The creator of GA Google Analytics added the required hook to his plugin last month, and I’ve now updated PhastPress to make use of it. After updating to PhastPress 1.76, GA Google Analytics’ scripts should no longer be deferred by PhastPress, and tracking should work as intended.
