    Hello,
I used the official paypal plugin years ago on a different site. You’re is a lot more robust, so its providing me with a few challenges. I am having some difficulty understanding the error codes and what should be done to correct them. I don’t think it’s necessarily the plugin’s fault, but if you could help me understand if it is a configuration issue or something within PayPal itself, I’d greatly appreciate it.

    Here is what is happening.
Under Production mode: we’re seeing the following error:

Error: Can only get order for self-authorized orders

In console we’re seeing several errors related to the ReCaptcha and PayPal.

    We’re using WP 7.1.2
    and Payment Plugins Paypal: 2.0.27

    Thank you

    Hi @jasonhouge

Thank you for contacting Payment Plugins.

Error: Can only get order for self-authorized orders

Can you provide some additional context on when you’re seeing that error? That doesn’t look like an error message triggered by the plugin. If you navigate to the WooCommerce > Status > Logs page is there an entry in the wc-ppcp log file for that error?

    Kind Regards

    Hi,
Sorry, I had the debug turned off, so it took me a moment to get back to you.
With it on, the error changes:

    Error: Api: /smart/api/order/1GH34716MA5016749 returned ack: permission_denied (Corr ID: f119432adc63b) {"ack":"permission_denied","message":"Insufficient privileges"}

I’m trying to run a venmo purchase of a test item with a value set for $1.00.

As for the log file, I am only seeing approvals there.

From the errors I see in console, I thought the error might have something to do with Fastlane, so I turned it off and there was no discernible difference.

With the debugging turned on, the console error count drops significantly.
I really don’t really understand the ReCAPTCHA document is sandboxed error.
Nothing is sandboxed at this point. However, when I input and save the ReCAPTCHA v3 info for this site, there is no visible indication in the plugin that I’ve done so.

    Hi @jasonhouge

That Venmo issue is one we have been trying to get PayPal to look at for some time as it’s not related to a plugin issue. I am going to share this thread with them to get eyes on it.

The unload message is harmless and is not a plugin issue. The PayPal scripts use the unload event which is being phased out by browsers.

The notice about requestStorageAccess is also harmless. This is Google’s reCAPTCHA checking what access it has on the document and the warning is caused by Cloudflare's Web Analytics/Script Monitor feature which you appear to be using.

    Kind Regards

    Ok,
Thank you, but the underlying situation is, although my venmo says authorized, my bank says authorized, the plugin log records authorized – the sale still fails and displays the error. So do I just not offer venmo? I haven’t tested any of the other payments yet

    edit:
a PayPal payment also results in failure, it declines it with a weird obtuse code about an instrument being presented.

credit card goes through, no problem

    edit 2:
After initial authorization for credit card, and the sale completing, about 30 seconds later the card gets declined by paypal’s manual fraud service. Paypal must be riding the struggle bus. I have never had these kinds of issues in the past with them, nor with stripe or square. WHY do they even have manual fraud tools?!? That should be automated and their responsibility. not the merchant’s and not for an additional fee either.

Sorry for the vent 😀 You’ve been nothing but kind

Please provide the full error message and the wc-ppcp log entry. Please note you cannot use the same PayPal account that the plugin is connected to when performing test payments.

Rest assured, I am setting this up for my partner, using their paypal to accept and mine to pay with.

    Hi @jasonhouge

Thanks for the log entry. This is a decline directly from PayPal and does not indicate an issue with the PayPal plugin. For more information on the decline you can reach out to PayPal support and provide them with the debug ID a1e475ca7aa4c.

For whatever reason PayPal is determining that the payment should be declined.

    Kind Regards

    Thank you,
I wasn’t sure of the source of the errors. Thanks very much for your help!
