well I can make it do that if I add
#profile
to url – but you can add #anything to a url and the browser will look for an anchor – if not finding it, will revert to actual url preceding
you don’t see that when clicking on the links do you?
I’m seeing the # anchor on Chrome, Firefox and IE8.
It’s part of the theme, probably the bit which does the fancy text slide thing. Looks like it’s this doing the work:

I don’t know enough about Javascript to know how to disable that, or whether just removing the reference to that script would work or not, sorry. But hey, at least you’re not going mad. 🙂
ahhh..must be alism’s correct – when I enable java I see it, also
looks like i might be screwed then because i’m not well versed in any of this, let alone javascript
