The shortcode [permalink] generates an URL containing an error leading to a “Page cannot be found” message when clicked.

The error is that the URL is HTTP//….. instead of http://….

The URL text is correct, but the actual link contains the above error.

How can I fix this please?

Thanks for your message.

I seem to remember someone reporting this before but it turned out to be a redirect or htaccess issue on their site. Are you able to investigate this?

The permalink shortcode output is very simple so shouldn’t be changing anything.

I honestly know very little about either htaccess or redirect. Would not know where to look..

As a first port of call, I would suggest getting in touch with your host to see if they can help.

If they can’t help then please can you make your way through this document and let me know how you get on?

I solved the issue. Somehow, the URL link was http://[permalink], translating in a http// error.
