• Simply activating the plugin substantially decreased front-end and admin page load performance dramatically. Hadn’t created a timeline or used any shortcode yet so will stay deactivated until I can find possible conflict / issue.

    Hi,

You’re not the first to say that this plugin has caused some slow down times.

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be the case. The plugin only loads the necssary js and css files on the front end of the site when the shortcode is being used.

Therefore if the shortcode is not present, this plugin loads no files and performs no queries.

It’s possible it may slow down a bit on the backend, but it certainly isn’t anything substantial. I have done some testing using the p3 plugin profiler.

Can you try giving that a shot with the timeline express plugin active?

If you do a search here in the forums, there are at least 3 other thredas where we have discussed this issue and I have provided my test results.

Give them a look through as well. If you can, report back here with some p3 test results.

    Thanks,
    Evan

    Hi Evan

Thanks for replying. I understand the lack of shortcode should not be calling any plugin functions so I was bemused at first. But I actually used P3 to determine this issue the first time and here is my original result:

Reading other support threads as you said, I did a manual test today on the front end only. The results are nowhere near as bad, but it’s still the most intensive. I have to be logged in to see past the maintenance page which still calls the contextual admin menu, so might be the issue. Putting the numbers aside for a moment, there is a very visible difference when I simply disable this plugin.

Btw here is the detailed view showing the plugin making two late calls to wp-admin/edit.php and wp-admin/plugins.php
